So, what does 2009 hold for City Edge Church?
As Dudley Daniel once said “where there is life – there is growth” and this is what I believe God is going to do with us as a church this year. His life is in us as individuals and in us as His church and if growth is not taking place then something is wrong.
I felt God say to me recently that if I concentrate on building depth with the people, He will build width. That is if I focus on working with Him to make disciples, He will grow us as a church through the addition of more people.
Growth comes with its own challenges, kids growing up through their teenage years always seem to need new shoes, new clothes and new tech gadgets. Families that are expecting more children, require bigger cars, extra bedrooms and larger incomes.
Already, this year we are looking to move into a larger room that could seat around 60 people having almost outgrown our 30 seat room. We are planning on ways in which we can reach out into the University and the community and we are planning ways in which we can disciple people from every nation, tribe and tongue.
If this church reaches only one segment of our multi-cultural society, then we are missing something of Jesus’ great commission to make disciples of every nation.
For those of you reading this post, we would greatly appreciate your prayers for us as a church this year – a year that promises much.
