Review Dates for 2011

Review 2
Tuesday March 22 (Romans Outline)
What I would like to do at this session is have everyone print out (or hand write) their outline so we can pass it around to each other on the night to read quietly before we discuss as a group. Also take special note of what Paul means by Law throughout this letter and how he want's believers to now approach the Law as it crucial to a thorough understanding and appreciation of the gospel.

Review 3
Tuesday April 19 (Romans 1-2 Commentary)
Tuesday May 24 (Romans 3-4 Commentary)
Tuesday June 21 (Romans 5-6 Commentary)
Tuesday July 19 (Romans 7-8 Commentary)

Review 4
Tuesday August 16 (Romans 9-10 Commentary)
Tuesday September 20 (Romans 11-12 Commentary)
Tuesday October 18 (Romans 13-14 Commentary)
Tuesday November 22 (Romans 15-16 Commentary)

Well we got started tonight on our study in Romans and below are a couple of things others have said about Paul's letter to the Romans.

F.F.Bruce
There is no telling what may happen when people begin to study the Epistle to the Romans. What happened to Augustine, Luther, Wesley and Barth launched great spiritual movements which have left their mark in world history. But similar things have happened, much more frequently, to very ordinary people as the words of this Epistle came home to them with power. So, let those who have read thus far be prepared for the consequences of reading further: You have been warned!

Ray Stedman
We do not know how the church in Rome was started -- perhaps by Christians who had been converted at Pentecost and returned to the capital city. Paul was writing to them because he had heard of their faith, and he wanted to fulfill it to the utmost; he wanted them to be soundly based in the truth. Thus this letter constitutes a magnificent explanation of the total message of Christianity. It contains almost every Christian doctrine in some form, and is a panorama of the marvelous plan of God for the redemption of man.
If you had no other book of the Bible than this, you would find every Christian teaching at least mentioned here. This, then, is what we might call the master key to all of the Scriptures. If you really grasp the book of Romans in its total argument you will find yourself at home in any other part of the Scriptures.

I am personally looking forward to a great year of digging in deep into the "master key to the scriptures".

The late, great, much lamented Rich Mullins addresses this matter in his (inspirational) song "One Thing"

Everybody I know says they need just one thing
And what they really mean is that they need just one thing more...
... Who have I in Heaven but You Jesus?
And what better could I hope to find down here on earth?
I could cross the most distant reaches
Of this world, but I'd just be wasting my time
'Cause I'm certain already, I'm sure I'd find
You're my one thing....

His inpspiration, in turn, comes from Psa 73:25-28. Go on, look it up. And if you want to read the rest of the lyrics, go to
